Landscape Photography

colour  (Page 2)

Most of the landscape photography on these pages was produced on transparency film using Hasselblad or Nikon equipment. Some were also produced using Nikon digital equipment and a few using a Leica M3.  The Hasselblad is by far my favourite camera for landscape photography. It has superb image quality, it's versatile and light enough to carry in a back-pack without having to leave behind other necessities such as food. I've worked with 5X4inch equipment and although it's capable of exceptional quality I find it's weight, it's bulk and it's slowness of use a real handicap. Modern films and image reproduction techniques are so good that for most purposes the 6x6cm image of the Hasselblad is more than adequate.

My field kit consists of a Hasselblad 2000FCM with meter prism, 50,80, and 250mm lenses, two magazines (b&w & colour) and of course a tripod. Sometimes I'll also take a 135mm lens with bellows. Add to this a hand held light meter and a Nikon digital camera with a couple of lenses and the weight soon adds up.

I have to say, (I know I'll be condemned by many landscape photographers for this) that I'm very much a digital convert and look forward to the day when I can do all of my work digitally.
